Tikee Remote
Your Tikee offers three types of sequences:
- Long-term sequence
- Burst sequence
- Event sequence
Please refer to the user guide for more details: support
If, after an update, you get a message saying that the camera is linked to another account or that there is a cloud error, please turn your phone off and on again (iPhone only).
To launch a programmed sequence, you can select "start recording" on the Tikee Remote mobile application, or press the button on the back of the Tikee camera (camera logo).
In the case of a sequence programmed via myTikee, you must take into account the delay before the next Tikee synchronization (see synchronization in progress).
If the sequence is in the "synchronization in progress" state on the myTikee application, it means that the Tikee has not yet connected to the web application and collected the modifications (change of interval, days, or other parameters).
You then need to wait for the next connection of the Tikee, which, in active shooting state, will connect every 24 hours minimum (if a long-term sequence is in progress, it will connect at each image upload depending on the parameters you set).
In order to activate the shooting, it is, in fact, necessary to confirm the immediate launching of the sequence after your configuration is complete. The sequence will still start on the programmed date.
If you select "No", the shooting will not be activated, the sequence will not be launched and the Tikee will switch off after 30 minutes.
After an update, the timelapse sequences and connection parameters (Wi-Fi and/or 4G) are reset. You will then need to set them up again.
The time on your Tikee camera is automatically set when you connect to it with your cell phone through the Tikee Remote mobile application (make sure that the phone is in the correct time zone).
Previewing requires that the Tikee and the mobile device on which the Tikee Remote application is installed have a network connection, and that these two devices are connected via Bluetooth.
The right and left images are sent by the Tikee to the cloud and then uploaded by the mobile application.
Settings such as the daily time slot, the number of active days per week, and the shooting interval affect the camera's battery life and data consumption.
For a long-term sequence, it is recommended not to go below an interval of 15 minutes with adequate sunshine as in summer, and 30 minutes for more difficult weather conditions, such as winter, or when the weather does not provide sufficient solar load.
For an indoor sequence, the Tikee can be plugged into the power supply continuously. However, be careful with the camera’s waterproofness, which is no longer ensured when the rear plug is open.
Please check the following points first:
- Make sure that your smartphone is compatible:
– for Android: min. Bluetooth 4.1 and min. Android 6.0
– for iOS: min. Bluetooth 4.1 and min. iOS 10
- Make sure that your phone’s Bluetooth is turned on and visible.
- Make sure that your phone’s geolocation is enabled.
- Close and then restart the mobile application once Bluetooth is turned on. If necessary, log out of your account and then log back in.
- Unpair your Tikee (e.g. T-123456) from your phone's Bluetooth settings.
After 30 minutes of inactivity (without any interaction/connection/ongoing or planned timelapse), the Tikee camera shuts down and is no longer visible in Bluetooth. It is then necessary to turn it back on manually by pressing the left button on the rear panel.
A background notification may appear on the screen of some smartphones. If that is the case for you, don't forget to confirm pairing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMqVaV2Zfng
The maximum range of Bluetooth is 30m.
- Make sure that your SIM card is properly plugged in (clickable) and inserted the correct way around, chip facing down.
- Make sure that your SIM card is activated and unlocked by your mobile network operator by testing it with a cell phone.
- Check your login data. The APN and PIN1 code are enough for most operators; this information can be found in the account-opening documentation provided by your mobile network operator.Be careful! Repeated attempts with incorrect login credentials can block the SIM card.
- Make sure that a network is available with sufficient signal strength on site (test it with a cell phone that uses the same network from the same provider if necessary)
- Perform a Wi-Fi test (using your phone’s wireless access point feature).
- If the Wi-Fi and 4G tests still fail, update the device to reset the connection.
- Check your login information in > Network settings.
- Make sure that the network is working properly (e.g., use another device such as a phone or computer).
- Check the type of security chosen (usually: WPA2-PSK).
- If the Wi-Fi and 4G tests still fail, update the device to reset the connection.
The connection is not possible on Wi-Fi networks that require a connection to a web portal (which is often the case on an industrial site or on free Wi-Fi networks).
Tikee
Width: 210 mm / Depth: 180 mm / Height: 70 mm
Weight: 1.635 kg
Under the camera is a 1/4 standard thread. This allows you to use a tripod or a wall mount system for a sturdy installation and to avoid movement on your timelapse video. You can leave the Tikee camera on its rubber pad for a few hours.
Tikee can be charged with any 5V micro-USB charger (smartphone-type charger).
Please allow 24 hours for a full charge with a 2A charger. The exact time depends on the model of charger used.
Your Tikee can be secured thanks to the anchor slot through which you can run a cable with a padlock for additional safety.
We offer sticker kits (gray stone, black stone, forest and foliage) that can be applied to the Tikee to change its appearance and make it less visible, if necessary.
The Tikee Pro2+ and 3 PRO can be located by GPS, at the time of every connection or according to the settings entered in Camera settings > Geolocation.
The solar panel can rotate 360° on the vertical axis and tilt up to 90° on the horizontal axis.
A hex key is provided to secure these positions.
The optimal position depends on your exact location. As an illustration: for an installation in the northern hemisphere, the optimal orientation is due south with an inclination of around 30°. This inclination also minimizes the soiling of the panel.
This depends on the shooting settings you have selected, as well as the quality of the network (the data below are valid with an average 4G throughput of about 400 Ko/s).
For a Tikee PRO or PRO 2:
Without sunshine: 1 photo every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day:
- with the upload of photos to the server: 10 days of battery life
- without data upload: 30 days of battery life
For a Tikee PRO 2+, Tikee 3 or Tikee 3 PRO:
Without sunshine: 1 photo every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day:
- with the upload of photos to the server: 20 days of battery life
- without data upload: 60 days of battery life
Download the latest update: Downloadable resources from a computer and copy it to the previously formatted microSD card. Write down your Wi-Fi and 4G connection settings, they will be useful later. The file must be named TikeeUpdate.fw (and not TikeeUpdate(1).fw for example if your web browser renames it). If the battery level of the camera is lower than 50%, please plug in the Tikee before updating. Insert the microSD card into the dedicated slot and turn on your Tikee. Connect to your Tikee using the mobile application. Write down your network settings as well as the settings of the current sequence, as they will be erased during the update. Go to the "Advanced Settings" menu and click on "Update". The update may take several minutes. Once completed, you will receive a success notification on the mobile application. Close the mobile application and restart your Tikee. Connect to your Tikee using the mobile application: the version number of your Tikee should match...
Save all existing data, as it will be erased during formatting.
- With the mobile application, go to > Advanced Settings > Format SD card
- With a computer, format in Exfat format for cards of 128 GB and more. Use the Fat32 format for other lower-capacity cards.
For a long-term timelapse sequence (over several months or even years), we advise you to set the shooting interval to a minimum of 15 minutes (30 minutes is preferable) to ensure the extended battery life of your Tikee.
- Check the quality of the Wi-Fi/4G network. A bad throughput or a used-up 4G plan (resulting in slow or no throughput) can lead to high power consumption.
- Make sure that the solar panel is well oriented (facing south and 30° tilt for France for example) without shade for optimal charging.
- Make sure that the solar panel is kept clean (trash, leaves, snow, etc. may prevent the solar panel from charging).
- Check via the mobile application in > Advanced settings > Status, the voltage of the solar panel in full sunlight: it should indicate between 4.9 and 5.1 V.
To calculate the data volume, use our timelapse planner HERE.
For example, with a Tikee PRO 2 without connection, you can take about 1 photo every 15 minutes (16h/day) for 7 months with a 128GB microSD card.
In case the network is too weak to be able to upload photos, but sufficient to establish a connection test, you can still get the daily status of the camera, which allows you to manage your sequences.
The Tikee is compatible with microSDHC and microSDXC cards, from 8GB to 128GB (for Tikee 2) or up to 256GB (for Tikee 3 and 3 PRO), UHS-I or UHS-II class and minimum speed class U1 or U3.
It is important to choose a reputable brand for your microSD card and purchase it from certified retailers.
- Check that your microSD card is a reliable brand and meets the following specifications: microSDHC or microSDXC, with a capacity from 8 GB to 128 GB (for Tikee 2) or up to 256 GB (for Tikee 3 and 3 PRO), UHS-I or UHS-II class and minimum speed class U1 or U3.
- Format the SD card with a computer in Exfat format.
- Carefully plug the card into the turned-off device and check its recognition by turning on the Tikee.
The lenses have a fixed focus and a wide angle (HFOV: 149°), F2.8. The diameter of the lens is 18mm (similar to that of an action cam). In total, the generated photographs cover 220°.
The sensor size is 1/2.3 with a resolution of 16MP per sensor. The native resolution of a sensor is 4608 x 3456.
Yes, only in long-term sequence and by choosing to store images on the microSD card exclusively.
Due to their size, these RAW (DNG) files cannot be uploaded to the cloud.
Please note that DNG/RAW files cannot be processed on the myTikee web application, which only manages JPG images.
The exposure duration is automatically defined and adapted by the camera, which guarantees the best possible rendering, whatever the lighting conditions.
Long sequence: from 1 minute to 24 hours
Short sequence (burst): from 5 seconds to 45 seconds (from 90 to 200 photos)
Event sequence: from 5 seconds to 45 seconds (from 1080 to 6000 photos)
Installing filters on Tikee lenses is not possible at the moment.
As with any other wide-angle lens, a projection is distorted. However, it is corrected once the photos are sent to the web application during the image merging process.
When the camera is positioned on a horizontal plane, the distortion is limited (you should avoid high and low-angle shots).
You will find information on this link: https://enlaps.io/how-to-correct-horizon-timelapse-with-tikee/?lang=en
Avoid any foreground objects in this area
Tikee viewing angle (°200)
You should center your shooting subject in this area, more than 5 meters away from the Tikee*.
* Position the focus of attention so that it faces the Tikee and is centered between the 2 lenses.
- Make sure there are no objects in the merging area (in the center of the camera) within 5m of the Tikee camera, to ensure proper image merging.
- Be careful not to move the Tikee camera after launching a sequence, because the merging is based on the first 100 images taken.
- Make sure not to start a timelapse at night, with fog, or under heavy rain (more complex merging calculation).
- For indoor timelapse where the necessary distance cannot be achieved, we recommend using a single lens (see 3.13).
Wait 24 hours
A Tikee can skip a connection for a number of reasons. If that is the case, the Tikee resumes shooting and will try a new connection later.
Beyond 48 hours
Depending on your settings, you will have to go on site to connect to the Tikee via the application, to check its status, and to restart a connection test (take an SD card with you that contains the lastest update and enough power to supply the Tikee with energy).
The Tikee is programmed to operate differently depending on the battery level.
Battery from 100% to 30%: Normal power mode. The Tikee operates normally.
Battery from 30% to 15%: Eco mode. The Tikee does not send any more images, the shots are stored on the SD card. It will resume the upload only once the battery is above 60%.
Battery below 15%: Standby mode. The Tikee goes into standby and will revert to eco mode once the battery is above 30%.
This notification is usually sent immediately after the battery drops below 30%. In this case however, the Tikee is simply sending back information that is skewed by the low outside temperature (this happens in winter especially).
Since your Tikee is in normal power mode, the battery percentage is actually above 30%. The information should update in the next few hours.
Via the mobile application, once connected, go to the Advanced settings > Unlink. To relink the Tikee, simply reconnect via the mobile application.
If the Tikee is not next to you, you can unlink it via myTikee.
Go to myTikee, select the Tikee and you will find this logo next to the Tikee number to unlink it. Please note that to relink your Tikee, you will first need to unlink it with the mobile application.
myTikee
The images are uploaded by the Tikee at defined intervals. The settings allow you to adjust this interval as well as the number of images for each upload.
With each upload, the Tikee will log in, and send its information and available photos.
The information and photos that you can see for your project are those that the Tikee uploaded the last time it connected.
There is therefore a time delay between the images you can see online, and your shot. This delay varies depending on the camera settings. In standard use, it goes from a few minutes to a few hours.
For example: Your Tikee is set to take a photo every 20 minutes and to upload the photos in batches of 3. It will then connect every hour.
Please note that this upload interval can be modified and has an impact on the battery life of the device.
These settings can be found on the myTikee web application, in the control panel of a Tikee > Camera settings > Upload modes:
- “Normal” mode: grouped image upload, the interval will depend on the number you set
- “Minimal” mode: single daily connection, one image is uploaded
- “Sample” mode: one image is uploaded every X images
If these settings can’t be edited, it means that the version of your Tikee is obsolete.
Please note that this upload interval can be modified and has an impact on the battery life of the device.
The activation code/Token for your myTikee PRO subscription is available on your account on enlaps.io.
Once connected, go to the page "My MyTikee subscriptions". You will have to enter this token on your profile on https://my.tikee.io/profile to activate your subscription.
Please note that the PRO features will only be active if your number of licenses is equal to or greater than the number of Tikees on your account.
You can check at any time the activation of the PRO features in myTikee > My Profile.
Once your long-term timelapse sequence has been set up and launched, you can edit the following elements remotely, from the myTikee web application:
- the end date of the shooting
- the shooting time slot
- the days of the week when shooting is activated
- the interval between shots
- recording rules on the SD card
- sequence creation and deletion
These modifications will be taken into account at the next connection of the Tikee camera to the myTikee web application (during the next photo upload)
Yes, it is possible to create a new sequence from the myTikee web application if the camera is in the active shooting state.
For a first sequence, it is preferable to create the sequences with the Tikee Remote mobile application.
By clicking on the thumbnail of your project, you will find a "Share" button below the displayed image. It gives you the different sharing links:
- direct sharing of the preview page
- direct sharing of the gallery or timelapse videos only
- Iframe integration for an existing web page
- query URL (link to JSON data) for custom integration
Please note that these features are only available for active myTikee Editing and Storytelling subscriptions.
The customization of iframe links is available. We recommend the following guide to help you: https://enlaps.io/how-to-customize-the-iframe-of-your-timelapse-project/?lang=en
This action may sometimes be necessary (e.g., for starting a new sequence from the same point of view, replacing a camera following a malfunction, etc.).
To do this, simply send an email to support@enlaps.fr and provide the relevant project names and numbers (each project number can be found in the URL when you are on the edit page).
Please note that the image resolutions of the different projects to be grouped together must be identical.
You can use our web application myTikee or upload your photos and then use a third-party software.
The Pan & Zoom feature allows you to crop the video and to create movement with a tracking shot. Please note that the larger the zoom is, the lower your resolution will be. A maximum zoom will result in a Full HD resolution.
The timelapses are created in the myTikee web application from the images sent by the Tikees, with a minimum of 100 images, at a speed of 25 fps.
It is possible to create several timelapse projects from the same set of images, for example by modifying the time scale, using advanced filtering (for a long-term timelapse), adding a tracking shot effect thanks to the Pan & Zoom feature, etc.
You can create as many timelapse videos as there are projects created.
Yes, you can choose the shooting time slot for long-term sequences.
It is also possible to choose specific active days for the shooting.
For example, you can set the following rule:
- Active shooting from Monday to Friday, from 7am to 7pm.
You can program a sequence spanning 24 hours of shooting:
- Select 00h00 as your start time and 23h59* as your end time
If the photos were sent automatically by the camera:
It is possible to create a right or left timelapse directly from an existing project by clicking on the blue button at the bottom left of the project thumbnail (requires a myTikee PRO Editing or Storytelling subscription).
If the photos are downloaded from the SD card:
It is possible to retrieve the left and right unmerged images. You can then upload solely the images from the side of your choice in a new project on myTikee.
You can manually create a new timelapse project from your account in the myTikee web application, and then drag and drop your photos into the photo tile in the top right corner.
After that, you will need to wait for the upload to finish and for the merging of the images to complete before you can see the result.
Please note that the use of the Google Chrome web browser is recommended.
In all cases, the photos are saved on the SD card before they are uploaded. Then, and depending on your settings:
- If the "Save a copy to the SD card" option is enabled, the photo is saved even after uploading it to myTikee.
- If the "Save a copy to the SD card" option is deactivated, the photo is deleted only after it has been sent to myTikee.
In the event of an error during the upload to myTikee (lost connection / used-up plan / weak or unstable network), the images are not deleted from the SD card.
- Check the battery level of your Tikee camera on the myTikee web application. Below 60% battery, your Tikee no longer uploads photos although it continues to take photos while storing them on the microSD card. Once the battery level is above 70%, the upload will resume.
- If you are using the 4G network, check your 4G plan status (remaining data plan, etc.).
- Make sure that the Wi-Fi or 4G throughput allows for photo upload (throughput > 200 Ko/s recommended).
- Check that there is still some space left on the microSD card and that the microSD card is not faulty.
To launch a sequence, there should be at least 200 MB of available space left.
Check that no obstacle or moving object passes within 5 meters of the Tikee during the first merges (about 100 images may be needed to calculate it).
The image merging is optimized based on the first images received (between 20 and 100 images depending on the scene). It is thus recommended:
- to launch the sequence only once the camera is in place
- to avoid launching your sequence at night or in poor visibility conditions
If you have any questions on this topic, and for a potential adjustment of the image merging: send a request to support@enlaps.fr
